Wikipedians are entitled to a degree of indulgence or bending of the rules because of the duration and extent of their past contributions.
Wikipedia rules are more flexible for:
- long term editors and
- editors who have been shown to have many beneficial edits to the project
...than newer editors or editors whose edits have not yet been shown to be as beneficial.
