Question

[edit]

Under "What you can already test" "In Wikitext", must you use curly quotes, or can you use straight quotes like I have? Loymdayddaud (talk) 04:00, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Loymdayddaud, no you don't, that appears to be a copy+paste error which I fixed now [1], thanks for mentioning it. Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 08:52, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Main reference deletion

[edit]
We have yet to work on what happens when you delete a reference that is being re-used.

Solution: Wikipedia can suggest save the main reference data in the first subreference that appears in the article.

Thanks for the suggestion. Our approach requires main- and sub-references to be separated, so unfortunately this won't work. We'll likely show some kind of warning if users attempt to delete a main reference which is still used by sub-references. --Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 08:56, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add topic and VisualEditor on talk page

[edit]

The add new topic feature in Wikitext (or WikiEditor?), does not work in the Beta talk pages. On the other hand, I suggest the user can utilizé VisualEditor in Beta talk pages.

It works for me? Anyway both dicussion tools and VisualEditor are features owned by the WMF, we can't do anything about that. --Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 08:53, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
