Lucy Hannah (née Terrell;[1] 16 July 1874/5 or 12 August 1894/5 – 21 March 1993) was an American Longevity Claimant who was once validated as age 117 but then her case was later withdrawn. From September 2003 to December 2020, she was still considered as the fifth-oldest person ever, and the oldest African-American person ever.
Before her death, Hannah claimed to be a year older, but investigation by the Social Security Administration's "Kestenbaum" study in 2003 proved that her age at death was "117".[2]
Her age was verified by the SSA Study but in 2015, members of 110 club cast doubts on her claim to 117. According to the research found so far, she could have been born on 12 August 1895.
In December 2020 in the Expectational Lifespan book, her case was officially withdrawn.
