Category:Possible AfC copy-and-paste moves

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category is used by WikiProject Articles for Creation to flag submissions that may have been copyied from one title or namespace to another and which need to be fixed.

Administrators: This page is largely automatically populated by the use of Template:AFC submission/created, which is transcluded by Template:AFC submission for any page that is in the main article space. Any main-space article with this template AND which has a corresponding submission in [[Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/{{PAGENAME}}]], including a leftover redirect, will be included in this category. This category may be used by other templates or added to articles and draft articles in other namespaces by hand. Being in this category does not necessarily mean a history merge is required, only that it may be required.

Template:AFC submission rarely stays on a page more than a few hours after it has been moved into the main encyclopedia, and as a result this category is almost always empty.

Editors: If you manually put pages into this category, consider also using {{histmerge}} and adding a request to Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen, particularly if the merge will be complicated or potentially controversial, such as a merge that will result in the deletion of a User sub-page. As this category is for pages created with through WP:AFC or which have or once had the AFC templates and which may but are not definitely candidates for merging, editors should rarely if ever have a need to add a page to this category. If you are sure it's a candidate for merging, don't add it here, just request a normal history merge.
