English: This painting was made at the Tuileries Palace; it was left unfinished. A blow, from a pike, by a revolutionary is visible on the lower part of the work.
Français : "Aleksander Kucharski devint le nouveau portraitiste de la reine Marie-Antoinette quand la reine dû quitter Versailles pour s'installer aux Tuileries, après octobre 1789. La technique du pastel lui a permis ici de fixer rapidement, en une ou deux séances de pose, les traits de la reine. Resté inachevé, ce pastel touche le spectateur par la sensibilité qui s'en dégage. Kucharski, conscient de cette réussite, réutilisa cette image pour plusieurs portraits de la reine. J.T." [1] |
