DescriptionChladni II (15371183938).jpg
As I was doing my master's thesis I studied the random paths that salt particles follow during the formation of Chladni figures. I also did some experiments because they are very fun and you can obtain beautiful patterns. At the end I tried using colored salts and this was the result.
The experiment consist on scattering salt on top of a metallic plate that is fixed in the middle by a screw. One proceeds to make the plate vibrate by touching it on one of its sides with a violin bow. The salt will start jumping due to the vibration of the plate and rearrange in this beautiful patterns. The lines formed correspond precisely with the points of the plate that remain still.
